This text is one of those cited in support of the Reformation doctrine of the priesthood of all members of the church.
The first five books of the Bible form one unit, more like chapters in a book than separate books. The closing verses of Exodus form an introduction to Leviticus. At the same time, this text links back to Genesis chapter three and has connections with the New Testament as well.
Abel stepped in to give me one more Sunday out of the pulpit following my knee replacement surgery. Since this was a Communion Sunday, his message reminded us of the Passover background to the Lord's Supper, and how the gospel is presented to us in this Sacrament.
